D.O. Vinos de Madrid

The production area covered by the Protected Denomination of Origin Vinos de Madrid is made up of the vineyards located in the south of the Madrid Autonomy with the following sub-zones: Arganda, Navalcarnero and San Martín de Valdiglesias. The sub-zone of Arganda is where the vineyards which provide the grapes for Heredad Torresano are located. This sub-zone, situated in the south east of the region, is the biggest of the three and it is spread over 27 separate municipalities. Through these lands flow the rivers Tajuña and Henares, tributaries of the River Jarana, which in turn flows into the Tajo.

The region has a continental climate, with Mediterranean influences, and extreme temperatures, both in summer and in winter.

Tinto Fino or Tempranillo is the most widely planted black variety in the Arganda sub-zone, and it is the variety which is increasing most, in terms of area planted. It is considered to be the finest indigenous Spanish strain of Vitis Vinifera.
